Es handelt sich um eine neurologische Erkrankung, deren Ursache nicht gut verstanden ist. Sie wurde mit Dopamin in Verbindung gebracht und verursacht unangenehme Beschwerden in den Beinen, vor allem wenn diese nachts in Ruhe sind. Menschen mit diesen Symptomen fühlen sich gezwungen, zu gehen und sich zu bewegen, um sie zu lindern.
