Jeder Aufprall, Sturz oder Verkehrsunfall kann den Brustkorb (Rippen, Wirbelsäule, Brustbein, Schulterblatt...) und die darin enthaltenen lebenswichtigen Organe verletzen.
Die Symptome und die Behandlung hängen davon ab, ob die Brustwand betroffen ist oder ob innere Organe geschädigt werden.
Von vornherein ist jedes Thorax-Trauma potentiell lebensbedrohlich, bis zusätzliche Tests in einem Krankenhaus durchgeführt werden, die es entweder ausschließen oder bestätigen.
