Depersonalization disorder - Derealization

Low urgency
--

Depersonalization refers to a feeling of isolation or separation from oneself and one's body, while derealization refers to a feeling of unreality or lack of connection to the world around us. Although many people may have these experiences on an occasional basis, if they are experienced repeatedly or do not go away, they may indicate significant distress and would be considered an established disorder.

The exact causes are not yet known, but it is believed that they may be related to biological, psychological, and environmental factors.

Symptoms include feelings of depersonalization and derealization, anxiety, dizziness, confusion, depression, and other emotional symptoms.

To make an accurate diagnosis, a mental health professional will conduct a thorough clinical evaluation and may use additional tests, such as blood tests or brain imaging.

Treatment for depersonalization-derealization disorder may include antidepressant and anti-anxiety medications, as well as psychological therapy.
