Ectopic pregnancy

Medium urgency
-Moderately severe

Ectopic implantation is the implantation of a fertilized egg in a place other than the uterus.

In many cases the exact cause is not known, although multiple factors have been described that hinder the migration of the fertilized ovum, favoring ectopic implantation.

It manifests with lower abdominal pain and bleeding, in the context of the absence of menstruation.

The diagnosis is based on the symptoms, the positive pregnancy test and the ultrasound study confirming the extrauterine implantation of the ovum.

Depending on the clinical condition of the patient, medical or surgical treatment will be decided.
