Gingivitis and periodontitis

Low urgency
Common-
Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums. When it affects the fixation of the tooth to the bone, it is called periodontitis. The primary cause of both is the accumulation of dental plaque (bacteria and residue) which forms tartar. Other factors are: poor dental hygiene, pregnancy, diabetes, certain medicines, etc. This inflammation gives them a bright red color and causes them to be sensitive to cold and prone to bleeding. Periodontitis produces bad breath and weak teeth that may fall out due to the destruction of tissue. Diagnosis is made based on the patient’s symptoms and an x-ray may be used to assess any bone loss. With treatment, inflammation is reduced and the infection and hygiene are improved. Rinsing with warm water and salt may help to reduce inflammation in the gums. You must see a dentist and/or maxillofacial specialist for assessment before complications appear.
