Knee trauma - Knee contusion

Very low urgency
Common-
This is a type of non-penetrating injury caused by a blow to the knee of mild to medium intensity. The most common causes are a trauma caused by contact sports, traffic accidents and accidents at work and at home. It is characterized by pain in the knee joint, bruising and swelling. Limited leg movement may also occur on occasions. There may be ligament, cartilage and meniscus injury. The diagnosis is established by medical history and physical examination of the limb. Other tests may occasionally be required. In the absence of major injury, treatment targeted at the inflammation: locally applied cold, relative rest and elevating the limb, which helps reduce the inflammation associated with the trauma.
