Common-
They are benign tumours that have their origin in subcutaneous fat.
Although just one lipoma might appear, it is common to have multiple of them. There is a genetic predisposition to develop them, with a higher incidence rate in those between 40 and 60 years old.
It manifests with a round, painless, soft and mobile lump that grows slowly under the skin. They can often be found in the neck, torso and limbs.
Diagnosis is reached through medical history and physical exploration.
As they do not cause any symptoms, they do not require treatment, although they are generally removed through surgery for aesthetic purposes.
