Organic psychotic disorder

Serious mental disorder that causes the individual to lose contact with reality and suffer various alterations. These arise as a result of injury, infection, intoxication or trauma that causes physical damage to the brain. The most important symptoms are delusions and hallucinations, which can also be accompanied by a deterioration of short-term memory, disturbance of sleep patterns, difficulty in concentration, disorientation, depressive and / or anxious mood. The diagnosis is made through clinical questioning, physical examination and additional tests if necessary. The treatment may involve antipsychotic, antidepressant and antianxiety drugs, as well as temporary hospital admission.
