Very low urgency
Common-

Inflammation of the glands located at the base of the eyelid's eyelashes.

The inflammation is generally caused by the Staphylococcus aureus bacterial infection.

Symptoms include inflammation and/or a soft red lump at the edge of the eyelid that is warm and painful to the touch.

Diagnosis is clinical through questioning and an examination of the eyelid.

Treatment consists of cleansing the area with damp warm compresses, antibiotics sometimes if required. It usually drains spontaneously and rarely requires surgical drainage.
