脊髄の下部にある神経根(腰仙神経根)が圧迫されることによって生じる症状群。
通常、末梢に広がる肺がん、乳がん、前立腺がん、および/または多発性骨髄腫が原因で二次的に発生し、神経を圧迫します。
重度の背中の痛み、脚の脱力感、深部腱反射の低下、尿失禁の問題、および性器および臀部(サドル)領域の感覚喪失が現れます。
診断は身体検査によって行われ、磁気共鳴画像法(MRI)によって確認されます。
治療はグルココルチコイドを基本とし、痛みの抑制、進行の防止、神経機能の維持に役立ちます。
