O ingurgitamento mamário é o enchimento excessivo das mamas com leite, fazendo com que elas inchem e fiquem duras e doloridas.
O ingurgitamento é mais comum quando as mamas não são esvaziadas o suficiente, seja por amamentação programada, quando as mulheres têm dificuldade para amamentar ou são separadas de seus bebês.
Ela se manifesta com inflamação e dor nas mamas, rachaduras nos mamilos e redução do suprimento de leite.
Faltam evidências sobre formas eficazes de tratamento, embora folhas de repolho, pacotes de gel gelados, pacotes de ervas e massagens nos seios sejam os mais amplamente usados.
