Tanı klinik öykü ve fizik muayeneye dayanarak konur. Ek testler arasında kan ve görüntüleme testleri (abdominal röntgen, BT taraması) yer alır.
Tedavi neredeyse her zaman yırtığı onarmak için ameliyatı içerir.
